ANTENA 3 PREPARES A SECOND SERIES OF ‘EL CÍRCULO DE LOS FAMOSOS’, WITH ARTURO VALLS AS HOST
It was the breakout format in the UK and has been a hit with adaptations in the US, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and France
“El círculo de los famosos” (The Wheel) is set to return to Antena 3. The format that triumphed in its first season, becoming the leader in its slot and the most-watched programme on Wednesday nights, comes back with new episodes. Arturo Valls will be the host of the show in this new season. The presenter joins the format to lead this new stage in which, once again, a large number of celebrities are ready to have fun while helping the contestants. They will do so seated on a large rotating circle that continues to deliver plenty of entertainment.
In this new edition of ‘El círculo de los famosos’, more than 50 different celebrities will take part once again, all with a clear objective: to help the anonymous contestants answer the questions and win the final prize. Each episode will feature seven different celebrities, each one an expert in a different category.
Produced by Atresmedia TV in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP Spain, this new edition is presented by Arturo Valls. He serves as the master of ceremonies for a format that combines spectacle, emotion, tension and generous doses of humour in a lively showcase of celebrities, enthusiastic everyday contestants and surprising question categories. A spectacular competition that, outside Spain, can be seen on Antena 3 Internacional and Atresplayer Internacional.
Created by Hungry McBear and launched on BBC One in the UK in 2020, The Wheel has now aired for six seasons, with over 60 episodes to date. It is firmly established as a primetime entertainment hit, regularly drawing huge audiences and earning major award recognition, including BAFTA and Rose d’Or nominations.
‘El círculo de los famosos’: leader and most-watched show of the night
“‘El círculo de los famosos’ was a success in its first season. With an 11.8% share, an average of more than 1.1 million viewers and over 3.1 million unique viewers, the format became the leader in its slot and the most-watched programme on Wednesday nights.
In its first season, it performed especially well among younger audiences, averaging an impressive 15.2% share among viewers aged 4 to 12, and leading among children, women, young adults and viewers over 65.
This is ‘El círculo de los famosos’
‘El círculo de los famosos’ is defined by its spectacular set, featuring a colossal moving circle at the center with rotating chairs around it. For the first time on television, the set is as important as the people on it.
Here, three contestants face off in a fun knowledge-based battle in which the goal is to hold their position at the center of the circle by answering correctly and avoiding being expelled from it with wrong answers. The contestant who manages to close the circle by completing the seven categories of the night will have the chance to take home the show’s grand prize. To achieve this, various celebrities will support them by putting their knowledge at the contestants’ disposal.
