LASEXTA PREMIERES THE 10TH SEASON OF ‘PESADILLA EN LA COCINA’ ON THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

Making television history with alberto chicote at the helm

The 10th season of Pesadilla en la cocina premieres on Thursday 10 September at 11.00 pm. The iconic and successful laSexta programme returns, making television history with a very special season: its tenth, once again led by the chef who has turned this international format into a benchmark on Spanish television, Alberto Chicote. Produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP España, the programme is also available on atresplayer, with episodes available a week early for premium subscribers.

In this tenth season, Pesadilla en la cocina remains true to its original philosophy: helping struggling restaurants get back on their feet, with Alberto Chicote bringing more fire and intensity than ever. Ten seasons in, there are still challenges he has yet to face, with chaos, disorder, dirt and tension reaching unprecedented levels. These are situations the programme has never encountered before, and even Chicote himself will be experiencing some firsts.

From the south of Andalusia to central Spain, taking in historic cities, inland towns, outlying municipalities and residential areas, the new season of Pesadilla en la cocina will take viewers on a journey across Spain, tackling some of the most complex cases the country's hospitality industry has to offer.

Alongside the discovery of new establishments, their kitchens and the nightmares hidden within them, the programme will also uncover family and personal stories that are as hard-hitting as they are moving. Behind businesses on the brink of collapse are managers lacking leadership and communication skills, relationships strained by the pressures of work, extraordinary reactions, overwhelmed, frustrated or desperate owners, and people who must confront their own mistakes if they are to move forward.

‘Pesadilla en la cocina’: Ten seasons of an iconic entertainment format on laSexta

Pesadilla en la cocina is undoubtedly one of the cornerstones of laSexta’s entertainment offering. The Atresmedia channel is itself celebrating 20 years since it first went on air. It was in 2012 that Alberto Chicote first donned one of his now-iconic chef’s jackets, bringing his own distinctive style to the programme and giving the format an even stronger identity. Since then, the chef and the programme’s team have visited more than 100 restaurants, helping them — and attempting to save them — from the most extreme situations with gastronomic, business and personal advice.

Throughout these seasons, Alberto Chicote has drawn on his perseverance, patience and determination to tackle the challenges and obstacles encountered at each restaurant. The chef has not only put his extensive experience at the service of the people featured in the programme, but has also demonstrated outstanding communication skills in highly challenging situations, showing empathy and commitment in every case.

Pesadilla en la cocina, Alberto Chicote and laSexta form a successful and widely recognised combination. The figures speak for themselves: over the course of its run, the format has reached nearly 37 million unique viewers, meaning that more than 83% of the population has watched it at some point. Its debut in October 2012 was the second most-watched entertainment premiere in the channel’s history, attracting 2,802,000 viewers and a 13.7% audience share, behind El jefe infiltrado, which premiered in April 2014 with 2,970,000 viewers and a 14.6% share.

Across the seasons broadcast to date, Pesadilla en la cocina has achieved an average audience share of 10.1% and more than 1.4 million viewers, rising to 11.5% among the Commercial Target, making it one of the channel’s most-watched and most emblematic entertainment programmes.

Pesadilla en la cocina is produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP España. The format is the Spanish version of the international hit Kitchen Nightmares, which propelled British chef Gordon Ramsay to worldwide fame in 2004. On laSexta, Alberto Chicote has been the chef at the heart of the programme, helping to make it a household name. The format has been adapted in 30 territories worldwide.
